Buckhead Developer Heading to Jail
Rick Warren has been sentenced for failing to adequately maintain properties he owned in the English Avenue area of Atlanta.

A Buckhead developer who has been accused of being a slumlord letting his properties in impoverished areas of Atlanta go to seed will soon see the inside of a jail cell.
Rick Warren was sentenced to 60 days in jail on Tuesday after he was found guilty of three counts of failure to adequately maintain properties he owns in the English Avenue area of Atlanta, the Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports. He will remain free on bond until an appeal is heard.
Warren was convicted in late September.

Speculators like Warren have been buying up inexpensive property near the new Atlanta Falcons stadium and the Atlanta BeltLine, hoping to turn them into massive profits once land values increase due to the new projects. owns around 10 percent of homes in the blighted English Avenue area of Atlanta.
Mayor Kasim Reed has spoken out against this practice, going so far as to label Warren a βpredatorβ in May.

Warren was acquitted on three other counts, the Atlanta Journal-Constitution said last month.
