Buckhead Schools Relocate This Year for Construction

Two Buckhead schools are moving permanently, while E. Rivers Elementary will make its temporary home at another school for a year and a half while construction is underway on a new facility.

Atlanta Public Schools begins its new school year on Aug. 7, and there are big moves for a few Buckhead schools.

Sutton Middle School will permanently relocate to the old North Atlanta High campus on 2175 Northside Drive as high school students head to the new North Atlanta High campus on Northside Parkway. The new school will have a capacity of 2,400 students and is expected to have a student population this year of about 1,650.

Only temporarily, E. Rivers Elementary students will attend classes at the former Sutton school facility at . The elementary school is being rebuilt and is set to reopen in January 2015.

Each move allows more room for each school's student population with enough space for anticipated population growth.
