Patch Staff Report
The 44th annual Decoratorsβ Show House & Gardens (DSHG) is going pink at Palazzo Rosa, historically known as the Pink Palace on West Paces Ferry Road in Buckhead.
This year designers, who are both locally and nationally recognized, will showcase their individual talents and design styles while incorporating creative trends in this iconic Atlanta home.
The DSHG will be open to the public from April 26 β May 18, 2014, and all proceeds benefit the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra and its education and community engagement initiatives.
The walls of Palazzo Rosa are no stranger to the creative minds of the Atlanta Symphony Associatesβ annual group of elite designers.
Β
βThe public loves to see how the modern family would use this home today, which helped myself and others involved with the selection make a unanimous decision to bring Palazzo Rosa back for the third time,β said Brooke Brantley Merrill, the 2014 DSHG Chair, in a news release.
Β
Originally designed in the Italian Baroque Style by three Georgian architects βNeel Reid, Hal Hentz and Philip Shutzeβthe home is now considered a βgreenβ house with an innovative geo-thermal heating and cooling system. Renovations were completed without sacrificing any of the homeβs charm and patina. With technology from the new millennium and original tapestries from the early 20th century, the Palazzo Rosa will appeal to a wide range of homeowners, renters or designers looking for inspiration.Β Β
Β
βIt is one of the most beautifully crafted homes in Atlanta. The proportions, the architecture and the grounds are a haven for any creative soul to build a masterpiece,β said Merrill. βI encourage everyone to make plans to visit this yearβs Show House. The experience will be one you donβt want to miss.β

About
Β
This annual event is organized by the Atlanta Symphony Associates β the volunteer arm of the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra. Proceeds from the event will benefit the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra and its many influential education and community engagement programs. These programs help to nurture the talent of emerging young musicians and bring music into the lives of the people within the Atlanta community and beyond. Included in these educational initiatives are the Talent Development Program, which trains and supports gifted, young African-American and Latino musicians through private coaching, mentoring, and performances, and also the Atlanta Symphony Youth Orchestra β a hub for some of the countryβs most talented young musicians for nearly 40 years.
