Atlanta Attorney To Be Charged in Wife's Shooting: Report
Claud 'Tex' McIver has told Atlanta Police he accidentally shot his wife in September.
BUCKHEAD, GA -- Prominent Atlanta attorney Claud "Tex" McIver will be charged in the shooting death of his wife. The warrants being issued Wednesday for involuntary manslaughter and reckless conduct cap a nearly three-month investigation by local law enforcement, according to local news reports.
Diane McIver, 63, died from a gunshot wound in September after her husband claimed that he accidentally shot her when he fell asleep with a gun in his lap in their SUV.
The couple were stopped at an intersection in Midtown near Piedmont Park, according to WSB-TV. Tex McIver was in the backseat while his wife was in the front passenger seat. A friend of Diane McIver was driving.

Tex McIver's brother told the Atlanta Journal-Constitution that the attorney is troubled at the timing of the warrants.
"Heβs upset that this is occurring on Christmas week. They couldβve waited, but they work in strange ways,β John "Spike" McIver told the AJC.
