Clifton Corridor Representatives, Residents Address MARTA Board

Residents and representives from neighborhoods that would be impacted by a proposed 10-stop light rail line addressed the MARTA board of directors Monday.

The 10-stop line in the Clifton Corridor would include service to Emory University and the , two of the largest employers in Atlanta. Current public transportation options only provide bus service to the area.

The board of directors approved the proposal on Monday afternoon. About $700 million of taxpayer money would go toward the $1.16 billion project if voters in July approve a penny sales-tax earmarked for transportation projects.

The line would begin at Lindbergh Station in Buckhead and continue on to Cheshire Bridge, Sage Hill, CDC/Emory Point, Emory-Rollins, Emory-Clairmont, North Decatur, Suburban Plaza, DeKalb Medical Center and end at Avondale Estates.

Stations at Piedmont (transfer to BeltLine), DeKalb Industrial and North Arcadia (old DeVry campus) could be added to the line.
