Daylight Saving Time Poll! 🤔
Daylight saving time begins on March 12. According to history, we can thank entomologist George Hudson for coming up with the idea in 1895. Implementation took place in 1918 to save resources and extend the work day during wartime. In 1966, daylight saving time became the law of the land, but states could opt out. So far, only Hawaii and Arizona have done so. Now, dueling studies point to the successes and failures of the practice. Where do you stand on the issue? So far, 66.7% don’t like daylight saving time, while 32.7% do. Only 0.6% don’t care one way or the other.

📰 Here are the top stories in Buckhead today:

  1. Reportedly, a drug deal went bad near Lucian Books and Wine in the 3000 block of Peachtree Road on Thursday evening. As a result, two men were shot. However, officials say that “a possible suspect is in police custody.” (Patch, 11 Alive)
  2. As soon as the necessary police vehicles are available, off-duty police officers will patrol Buckhead’s commercial corridors. We learned on Friday that the Buckhead Public Safety Foundation determined to bring the protection enjoyed by residents to local shops and businesses. Patrols will focus on Northside Parkway, Howell Mill as well as Peachtree, Roswell, and Piedmont roads. (Buckhead)
  3. What happened to the Midtown Connector Park? Thursday’s report shows that it shrank to 17 acres. According to the nonprofit that put together the project, the step had to be taken to “lower costs, improve its chances of happening sooner, and pave the way for other highway-capping park initiatives in Atlanta” that the group believes to be possible. The revised connector will go from North Avenue to 5th Street instead of from North Avenue to 10th Street. (Urbanize Atlanta)
  4. Calling all volleyball players! Adult co-ed leagues are forming, ranging from beginning to advanced. The leagues run for seven weeks at Skyland Park. If you love the idea of playing some 4v4 sand volleyball, you have until March 2 to register. You can come as an individual or with a team already formed. (Patch)
  5. We’re getting a LEGO® Discovery Center, y’all! It’ll open on March 31 at Phipps Plaza. Because you know that demand for tickets will be through the roof, you can buy them now. Insiders describe the center as an “immersive experience” “of more than 35,000 square feet” featuring “ten zones including building adventures, an interactive ride, and much more.” (Patch)
