πŸ“° Here are the top stories today in Buckhead:

  1. How’s crime-fighting in Buckhead coming along? At Thursday’s address to local civic leaders, Mayor Andre Dickens was pleased to announce that Zone Two, of which Buckhead is a part, saw a 14% overall reduction in crime. Concurrently, he emphasized that local business owners should hire young people to help protect them from being lured into gang life. (Fox)
  2. The ambitious apartment tower to become 321 Pharr Road is getting its Development Review Committee once-over for six requested zoning variations. The building would be on Pharr between North Fulton Drive and Grandview Avenue, which used to house several businesses and β€œhas been notorious in recent years for several shooting incidents.” If the February 1 review goes well, the 25-story high-rise with 406 residential units and retail space is a go. (Saporta Report)
  3. Tanyard Creek Park is getting a new playground, some benches and picnic tables! The park at 73 28th Street Northwest is one of the Park Pride’s grant beneficiaries. Thursday’s report outlines that another venue, Ardmore Park north of Collier Road, will get funds to add benches and picnic tables to its playground area. It’s noteworthy that these awards signal the start of the organizations’ current year grant cycle, which means that Friends of the Park groups can apply for the next round. (Rough Draft Atlanta)
  4. The Northside Hospital’s Heart Institute will organize a two-day conference at the Grand Hyatt Atlanta on February 24 and 25. The experts cite the growth of the cardio-obstetrics field as a development that defines new trends. If you’re in the field, register for the conference today. (Northside Hospital)
  5. Located at 1280 Peachtree Street Northeast, the High Museum of Art is putting on a Teen Art Afternoon on February 4. This event, which is free for teens, runs from 2 p.m. until 4 p.m. and gives attendees a chance to β€œlearn about Deana Lawson’s photography through tours and immersive art-making and photography activities.” (High)

πŸ›‘ Consumer Product Recalls πŸ›‘
Lead, undeclared allergens, and . . . foreign objects in food? Here are some of the latest consumer product recalls we ran across.

  • ZLINE 30-inch, 36-inch and 48-inch RG gas ranges (1-26-23). Operating the oven may lead to dangerous emissions of carbon monoxide.
  • Almondy’s chocolate cake with Daim (1-25-23). There was a metal object in a cake. These were sold through IKEA.
  • Mercedes-Benz’ 2001-2011 C-Class, CLK, E-Class, and CLS vehicles. There's a chance that the glass sunroof panel isn’t fastened correctly. The manufacturer will also send out letters on February 21.

You're all caught up for today. See you all tomorrow morning for another update!
