Drugs Stolen in Buckhead Walgreens Burglary

Oxycodone, methamphetamine among medications taken by thieves in overnight break-in.

Atlanta police have one person in custody after thieves broke into the Buckhead Walgreens in the 2800 block of Peachtree Road overnight.

Officers arriving on the scene found the front doors pried open. Inside the store, multiple drugs, including oxycodone, methamphetamine and morphine were missing, according to Sgt. Warren Pickard.

"The case is still active," he told Patch.

According to an incident report obtained by Patch, a traceable device that the thieves took from the store allowed officers to track them to a Cobb County motel. One person was detained at the motel.

Pickard said that Atlanta officers are trying to secure a search warrant from Cobb County to proceed.
