πŸ“° Here are the top stories in Buckhead today:

  1. On Thursday, the Atlanta Police Department (APD) responded to reports of a shooting at 3086 Middleton Road Northwest. Upon arrival, they found a 42-year-old man with gunshot wounds in both legs. He was taken to a hospital, and the Aggravated Assault Unit was called in to process the scene. (APD)
  2. Emory University conducted a survey between March 7 and 12. It focused on Atlanta residents’ feelings about Buckhead cityhood and the Atlanta Public Safety Training Center. Researchers got 800 responses. In Atlanta, 45.81% support the Training Center; in Buckhead only, 61.14% support it. Regarding cityhood, 54.38% of Buckhead neighbors opposed it; in the rest of Atlanta, 74.53% were against it. (11 Alive)
  3. On Friday, Mayor Andre Dickens awarded more than $700,000 in 125 grants to local creatives. The money came from the Creative Industries Grant Fund, which supports Atlanta’s β€œindependent content creators and creative entrepreneurs.” Grant funding is instrumental in supporting the local filmmaking industry.   4. The BeltLine is getting a Cubanos ATL. We just don’t know exactly where it’ll be. β€œLease negotiations are still taking place for the BeltLine space.” This expansion is part of the company’s push into Roswell and Downtown’s Hotel Row. (What Now Atlanta)
  5. If you’re looking for a fun summer job, why not apply at the Department of Parks and Recreation? Several open positions need to be filled, including lifeguards. You can apply online. However, today, Saturday, the department's sponsoring a hiring event at the C.T. Martin Recreation Center from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. (Doug Shipman)
