⏰ Daylight Saving Time Poll! πŸ€”
Daylight saving time begins on March 12. According to history, we can thank entomologist George Hudson for coming up with the idea in 1895. Implementation took place in 1918 to save resources and extend the work day during wartime. In 1966, daylight saving time became the law of the land, but states could opt out. So far, only Hawaii and Arizona have done so. Now, there are dueling studies pointing to the successes and failures of the practice. Where do you stand on the issue? So far, 58.8% don’t like daylight saving time, while 41.2% do.

πŸ“° Here are the top stories in Buckhead today:

  1. "The dog is the only important part," said a driver who briefly left his pet bulldog, Ronnie, inside his parked Mercedes in front of a Buckhead CVS on Monday evening. Then the car was stolen. Using GPS, the driver could direct the police to the car’s location in a lot off Joseph E. Boone Boulevard. β€œKids were doing donuts in a parking lot, videotaping it,” he said. Then they crashed it into a pole on Anderson Avenue. No sign of the dog. But last night, a woman who was on Anderson Avenue when the car crashed, retrieved the dog from the wreck, saw the story on TV news and reunited dog and owner. (WSB-TV)
  2. It’s time to find out which property will benefit from a Whole Home makeover, as Architectural Grille teams up with House Beautiful; also of note are Ladisic Fine Homes and Pak Heydt & Associates. The target property is β€œa historic Chastain Park Tudor located in Buckhead.” They have 11,000 square feet to work with. (yahoo!finance)
  3. If you’re a developer, you might want to connect with Atlanta BeltLine Inc. over a project at 579 Garson Road. The call went out Tuesday and involves β€œmultifamily housing with a range of price points at a Buckhead location with easy access to jobs, transit, green space, and a growing trail network” on a 2.68-acre parcel of land. You have until May 1 to submit your development proposals. (Atlanta Urbanize)
  4. Did you know that the Tai Chi Association has a location in Buckhead? It’s at 4651 Roswell Road and is helping local older adults with improving balance, calming the mind, concentration and measured movements. Of course, the benefits of Tai Chi aren’t reserved for residents with more birthdays than others. It’s a practice for participants of all ages! (The Atlanta Journal-Constitution/paywall)
  5. We’re got a new United Community Bank branch! It opened Wednesday at 4600 Roswell Road. In addition to operating a full-service branch, the bank’s claim to fame is β€œAtlanta's first Interactive Teller Machine (ITM).” Because of the interactivity between machine and human interface, β€œthe ITM extends branch hours until 6 p.m. on weekdays and until noon on Saturdays, providing flexibility beyond normal banking hours.” What you won’t find at the location is a drive-thru ATM. (Market Screener)
