  • 24.6% Candy apples
  • 15.8% Corndogs
  • 5.3% Guacamole

The rest have the willpower to stay away from fair food.

📰 Here are the top stories today in Buckhead:

  1. On November 13, a 46-year-old man was found shot in his car near 103 Joseph E. Lowery Boulevard Northwest. Atlanta Police Department (APD) officers learned the crime occurred around Abbott Street Southwest and Parsons Street Southwest. They pinpointed a 52-year-old man as a suspect. On Friday, they caught him; he’s now at the Fulton County Jail facing a “Felony Murder” charge. (APD)
  2. Did you see the firefighters at Fogo de Chão on Saturday? They were called to 3101 Piedmont Road Northeast and appeared to be working on the roof. Guests were evacuated, but it was difficult to tell what was happening. We've heard scuttlebutt of large plumes of smoke, but are waiting for an official update. (11 Alive, 2)
  3. A Catholic and a Baptist walk into a . . . well, not really. The pastors of Buckhead’s Second-Ponce de Leon Baptist Church and Cathedral of Christ the King are friends. And they’re planning on expanding the preschool that friendship produced. Christ the King Preschool at Second-Ponce opened in August and served children between 12 months and pre-K. The goal is to also welcome youngsters ages 5 and 6 in the fall. The faith leaders “suspect that the ecumenical preschool might be a first in its collaboration.” (Georgia Bulletin)
  4. On Friday, Mayor Andre Dickens appointed 23 members to his Arts Advisory Committee. The committee’s job is to “help shape the future direction of Arts and Culture” in the city. Those named include Alex Davis of the High Museum of Art, Jamil Jude from the True Colors Theatre Company and Atiba Mbiwan of The Zeist Foundation. (City of Atlanta)
  5. We have a list of artists participating in Illumine 2023. Scheduled for April 27 to May 7 at Oakland Cemetery, the venue will be the setting for after-dark enjoyment of the grounds, complete with “live music, craft cocktails, and an Oakland pop-up shop.” The artists are Gavin Bernard, Brooks Garcia, Dorothy O’Connor and Ricardo Martinez. (Oakland Cemetery)
