ATLANTA β€” Fulton County Sheriff Patrick β€œPat” Labat became a victim of Atlanta’s rising crime.

He’s trying to make the incident an opportunity with a streaming community discussion one day later.

His county-issued unmarked Dodge Charger was smashed Thursday night while he was on a date with his wife, Jacki Labat.

Labat confirmed the break-in to Patch and said only his wife’s half-empty handbag was taken.

β€œBut not her purse,” he followed up, to make a clear distinction.

Labat was out at LaPrilla in Buckhead when his rear passenger window was smashed in the restaurant parking lot, according to Instagram site ATLscoop.

The sheriff’s direct message response to the post: β€œJust goes to show anyone can be a victim,” he wrote.

On his own social media @lifewiththelabats!, Labat will feature a streaming open forum about crime and other subjects Friday at 6 p.m.

In his personal social media post on Friday, he made fun of himself as he invited the public to join in the conversation.

β€œWe’re talking crime in Atlanta (yes, the Sheriff’s vehicle β€œgot got” last night - smh),” Labat wrote.

Other topics will be COVID-19 and the ongoing debates over masking and vaccines, the start of a new school year, the Atlanta Falcons, and experiencing yet another campaign during the pandemic β€” Labat unseated Ted Jackson during a primary run-off in 2020, and how his wife is running for Atlanta City Council At-Large Seat 3 as the delta variant ticks up thousands of infections across the state again.
