Here are the top three stories today in Buckhead:
- On Tuesday, Fulton County Superior Court Judge Robert McBurney officially overturned Georgia's statewide ban on abortions around six weeks of pregnancy. Judge McBurney ruled that the ban, which was passed in 2019 and took effect in July 2022 after Roe v. Wade was overturned, "violated the U.S. Constitution and U.S. Supreme Court precedent when it was enacted." A spokesperson for Georgia Attorney General Chris Carr announced that the office "intends to pursue an immediate appeal" of the ruling. (Atlanta Patch)
- Following Friday's groundbreaking ceremony with Mayor Andre Dickens, construction has begun on the final major segment of PATH400. This multi-use path runs along GA 400 in North Atlanta and will provide greater pedestrian and bicycle connectivity to Buckhead and its commercial districts. The $12.8 million segment currently being built is a three-quarter mile stretch between Wieuca Road and Loridans Drive that connects directly to Mountain Way Common.
