π° Here are the top stories today in Buckhead:
- Insiders at Southern Living declared Fox Bros. Bar-B-Q to be Georgiaβs βbest barbecue jointβ in 2023. Buckhead neighbors are in luck, because we have the Fox Bros.β Que-Osk right here at 120 Ottley Avenue. So, dig into βslow-smoked prime brisket and jalapeΓ±o sausageβ and other goodies. (WSB-TV)
- Atlanta Public Safety Training Center update: Earlier this week, we talked about various clergy members protesting against the so-called Cop City. On Friday, a different set of faith leaders came to City Hall, saying that βthey arenβt against a planned public safety training centerβ but want community involvement. For the president of the Concerned Black Clergy of Metropolitan Atlanta, the center could βbe a bridgeβ with community oversight. Examples of this oversight could include curriculum development and the creation of an overall training culture. Members of the clergy also called for an end to the violence.
(Patch, The Atlanta Journal-Constitution/paywall) - On January 23, someone deliberately set fire to the Target at 2539 Piedmont Road Northeast. This store will reopen tomorrow, Sunday at 8 a.m. Authorities are still looking for the suspects in this case. (11 Alive)
- Get ready for some road closures! The Atlanta Department of Watershed Management will close β912 West Wesley Road NW between Howell Mill Road NW and Chatsworth Place NWβ on Monday, between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. One crew will install a pipe for the stormwater project, while another one will begin paving. Detours are in place, but you might want to avoid the area altogether. (Atlanta Watershed)
- Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) of Georgia will hold its annual luncheon and fashion show at an as-of-yet undisclosed location in Buckhead. Mark the date, April 26, and plan to attend around 10:30 a.m. Known as βCASA on the Catwalk,β this yearβs theme is April in Paris. βThe vision of Georgia CASA is for all children who experience abuse or neglect to have the opportunity to thrive and reach their full potential with the support of permanent connections to family.β The location will be disclosed on your invitation β after you buy your tickets.
