πŸ˜‹ Fair Food Poll!
Fair food is the ultimate cheat meal. Although we all know it’s unhealthy, everyone has a guilty pleasure. Which is your favorite? So far, 40% admit to loving funnel cake, and 12% each love guacamole and candy apples. Another 8% choose cheesecake, corndogs, and tri-tip sandwiches. Finally, 4% each vote for cotton candy, avocados with cheese, and fried cheese curds.

πŸ“° Here are the top stories in Buckhead today:

  1. The H.M. Patterson & Son-Spring Hill Chapel at 1020 Spring Street Northwest is in for some changes. We learned on Wednesday that the gorgeous funeral home from 1928 is slated to become a restaurant. It’ll be a full-service setup, β€œdotted with cocktail bars and charmingly old rooms refashioned into lounges.” The chapel portion will be rented for private events. Would you eat where they held Margaret Mitchell’s funeral? (Atlanta Urbanize)
  2. Georgia’s House Speaker Jon Burns proposed the creation of a State Patrol post in Buckhead. Wednesday’s announcement includes $1.25 million that the House Appropriations Committee already approved. State Representative Matt Hatchett said it would help β€œto address crime and promote a faster incident response in the north side of Atlanta.” Now we have to see if City Hall is on board. Critics, most notably the CEO of the Buckhead City Committee, consider it β€œputting a Band-Aid on something that clearly needs surgery.” (Fox, WSB-TV)
  3. If you need to go to a hospital, check out the Emory University Hospital Midtown at 550 Peachtree Street Northeast. We learned on Tuesday that Newsweek ranked it at #265 nationally. Other Atlanta hospitals making the list are Emory University Hospital (#34), Emory Saint Joseph's Hospital (#97), and Northside Hospital (#372). (Patch)
  4. Starting immediately, City Hall is streamlining its permitting process. The multiphase approach begins with a user-friendly online portal, shortened wait times and a β€œcentral point of contact.” Most importantly, β€œcustomers seeking a permit for apartment complexes, condos and townhomes will no longer be required to use a separate access portal.” We have no word yet when the next phase will go into effect. Its goal will be to centralize city agency access to the permitting process for online reviews. (City of Atlanta)
  5. We’re number ... 157? In time for St. Patrick’s Day, researchers crunched more numbers to find the best places to go for the celebration. They checked out 200 cities and ranked them by such metrics as Irish pubs per capita and costs for a three-star hotel on March 17. So, you already know that Atlanta ranked 157 out of 200. Within the state, we were beaten by Savannah (#38); however, we beat Columbus (#167) and Augusta (#184). Nationwide, the best place to celebrate is Boston, MA; on the other end of the spectrum is Miramar, FL. (WalletHub)
