UPDATE: Northside Drive Reopens After Gas Main Break

Work crews have re-opened Northside Drive at Arden Road after contractors accidentally broke a gas main on Wednesday morning. Arden Road is still blocked east of Northside Drive, WSB-TV says.

A gas main was hit on SR 3/US 41/ Northside Drive around 11 a.m., Wednesday, September 2 while Georgia Department of Transportation contractors were installing a water line on SR 3/ US 41/ Northside Drive. The road is closed from West Wesley Road to Arden Road while Georgia DOT contractors actively work to repair the gas main on SR 3/US 41/ Northside Drive. Repairs are expected to take approximately five hours. The closure will likely impact the afternoon commute. Motorists should seek alternate routes and avoid travel in this area.
