Guns, Cash Stolen From Braves' Nick Markakis' Buckhead Home

An AR-15 rifle, three 9 mm handguns, a Breitling watch and $20,000 in cash were stolen from the Atlanta Braves' right fielder's home.

ATLANTA -- An AR-15 rifle, three 9mm handguns, a Breitling watch and $20,000 in cash were among the items stolen from Atlanta Braves' right fielder Nick Markakis' Buckhead home. The burglary happened on March 29, according to a police report obtained by the AJC.

Officers responded to Markakis' Conifer Circle home around 11 pm after receiving a call that someone was in the home. Police found a front window had been broken and an open front door. Markakis was not home when the incident happened. A neighbor called Markakis, who spoke to police while they were on scene.

Police also found a safe in the master bedroom closet had been stolen, where the guns, cash and watch had been placed. Another gun was also stolen.

Markakis, 35, is currently batting .341 for the Braves after re-signing with the team on a one-year, $6 million guaranteed contract. He is a graduate of Woodstock High School in Woodstock, Georgia, and a former Baltimore Oriole. He made his first All-Star team in his 13-year career in 2018.
