πŸ“° Here are the top stories today in Buckhead:

  1. Jack's Pizza & Wings at 676 Highland Avenue Northeast closed! What happened? Jack’s was a tourist destination that delighted with a funky pizza monster mural at the entrance. As of Tuesday, it seems that the company β€” disappeared. The mural’s painted over. Nobody’s posting responses to social media inquiries. The business license hasn’t been renewed. However, the city also hasn’t received a β€œFinal Close” document that indicates the company’s intent to shutter operations. It's a mystery. (11 Alive)
  2. On the other hand, Aaron Overhead Doors invites you to its grand opening at 3273 Roswell Road on April 28. The ribbon-cutting ceremony is at 3 p.m. Founded in Buford, this company is well-known for its fully customized garage doors. For example, did you know that it makes wood (!) garage doors? (EIN News)
  3. The Georgia 400 snakes underneath the Atlanta Financial Center right here. If you’ve ever driven through it, you know that illumination is a problem. Reportedly, β€œall lights in the tunnel stopped working on December 12, 2021.” It’s now 2023; why hasn’t it gotten fixed? Well, for starters, the electrical panels are in a flood zone and need to be moved. Next, the tunnel’s 730 fixtures need to be retrofitted for LEDs. According to Georgia Power, it’ll cost around $3.1 million to do the work and then another $153,650 each year for upkeep. While officials mull this over, Georgia DOT will put up β€œsigns this week that warn motorists of the need to use their lights when approaching this tunnel.” (KPVI)
  4. Rapper Meek Mill is looking to sell his Buckhead digs. Apparently, he’s not happy with the speed his real estate agent is making the sale happen; so, the rapper took to Instagram on Sunday to sell the estate himself. The selling points are luxurious amenities and a gorgeous interior. Oh, and it’s in pristine condition, since the musician never actually moved in. Reportedly, the price is $25 million. (HipHopDX)
  5. April 29 is the day for the Buckhead Village District’s Bodacious Blooms Festival. You know what else is going on? Livable Buckhead’s fifth annual 5K! Bring the dog! This event is for runners of all abilities and ages; what’s more, we have a β€œFastest Fido” category, which now joins the fastest runners of the various age groups. Besides running, you’ll have β€œbandana giveaways for dogs, a pre-race hype event and post-race celebration.” By the way, if you come to Lenox Square in a flower costume, you’ll be eligible for yet another prize.
