Kordell Stewart Wins $3M Judgment Against Viral Star In DeKalb Defamation Suit

Breaking: DeKalb County judge awards former NFL QB $3 million in damages from blogger who claimed they were gay lovers.

DECATUR, GA -- Former NFL quarterback Kordell Stewart has won a $3 million judgment against a popular Internet personality who claimed that he and the pro athlete were involved in a gay relationship, Patch has learned.

The judgment in favor of Stewart was recently awarded in a DeKalb County lawsuit after a February defamation hearing in which the defendants -- viral star Andrew Caldwell and Jarrius Keyn Moon -- failed to appear.

Stewart's lawsuit claims that Caldwell and Moon promoted homosexual rumors about Stewart to boost interest in their internet-based TV show “The Gospel Truth," according to news reports.

Gay rumors about Stewart figured prominently in storylines featuring himself and then-wife Porsha Stewart, a granddaughter of late civil rights activist Hosea Williams, on "The Real Housewives of Atlanta." The allegations were hinted at in several episodes of the show, with Porsha indicating that the claims had even contributed to the couple's divorce.

Caldwell grew to Internet fame a couple years ago when a viral video filmed in a church shows him yelling that he "is delivered" from homosexuality.

Last year, Stewart filed suit against Caldwell, claiming that the rumors hurt his reputation and that of his family.

“The actions of these irresponsible people are harmful and damaging the brand that I and others like me have worked very hard for,” Stewart, who lives in Atlanta, said in a statement, according to WXIA.

Stewart's attorney said that the allegations even caused the former NFLer's young son to be picked on.

“Mr. Stewart has chosen a public life, and understands clearly that a large part of that comes with people targeting you for profit,” Antavius Weems was quoted as saying. “But he became concerned when his minor son became the target of these people.”

Judge J.P. Boulee handed the judgment down Friday in DeKalb Superior Court, the TV station reports.

Stewart also sued Catalyst Next LLC, the parent company of BossFM and "The ShakeUP Morning Show," which aired an infamous interview in which Caldwell implied that he and Stewart had had a relationship.

While Caldwell has offered a public apology, he has also defiantly implied that Stewart knows what really happened between them. He also said that the lawsuit, filed in Georgia, has no jurisdiction in Missouri, where he lives.
" Georgia does not have a statute in the state of Missouri and I have already talked to some judges in St. Louis and I have hired three lawyers already. They are definitely prepared whenever Kordell Stewart comes to St. Louis," he said in an online rant. He then asked that "prayer warriors" rally to his side.
