ATLANTA — A Lilburn man accused of throwing a woman from a moving Lamborghini to her death has turned himself in, police say.

Alfred Megbuluba surrendered to Atlanta Police late Monday night a week after witnesses told police he sped away in the convertible sports car and left 28-year-old Catherine Khan to die on Piedmont Road in Buckhead.

In addition to murder, police have also charged the 31-year-old Megbuluba with theft by taking and two counts of financial transaction card fraud.

On Oct. 11 around 11 p.m., police were called to the corner of Piedmont and Peachtree roads where a woman was found injured in the streets. Witnesses described an altercation between Khan and Megbuluba and said the man threw her from the open roof of the car as it was moving and sped away.

As onlookers and emergency responders tried to save Khan, witnesses told police they saw the same white Lamborghini Hurracan return to the scene briefly before again speeding away.

Khan would later die from her injuries.

It is unclear at this time if the fraud and theft charges are related to Khan’s death, and if so, how.

Megbuluba is currently being held in the Fulton County Jail.
