πŸ“° Here are the top stories today in Buckhead:

  1. Thursday evening, a police chase ended with the driver’s arrest and the filing of charges for β€œreckless driving, driving with a revoked license, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, and fleeing and eluding police.” Reportedly, police officers intended to conduct a traffic stop of a black Lamborghini SUV. When the driver wouldn’t stop, the chase was on. It ended when the suspect abandoned the vehicle β€œnear a sidewalk next to an apartment complex on Peachtree Road.” Nevertheless, the driver couldn’t elude officers. (Atlanta News First)
  2. Sewage-tainted water is in the Buckhead firehouse Station 26? We learned on Friday that firefighters have to step carefully because of what’s coming β€œfrom a drain that's inside the fire station.” In addition to the health hazard, there’s also the smell to deal with. Mayor Andre Dickens was alerted to this problem last spring, which apparently predates his tenure in office. However, there’s no clear indication if the issue is or will be fixed. (Fox)
  3. Nobody likes blackouts, and Georgia Power is ready to do something about it. The utility announced Friday that it will "bury electric lines in several Buckhead neighborhoods starting this year as part of a multibillion-dollar plan to reduce blackouts." However, the planned undergrounding won’t remove many of the poles that β€œcarry lines from the street to houses and businesses.” β€œThe local work will cover the Paces Ferry and Powers Ferry roads corridors in such western neighborhoods as Chastain Park, Paces and Tuxedo Park, as well as part of North Buckhead between Ivy and Wieuca roads.” Construction may begin as early as spring and last about a year. (Buckhead)
  4. Earlier this week, insiders ranked β€œAmerica’s favorite spas of 2022” by state. It found five Georgia spas worth noting. Of these, three are located in Buckhead! They are the Jurlique Spa inside the InterContinental Buckhead Atlanta at 3315 Peachtree Road Northeast; the St. Regis Atlanta Spa at 88 West Paces Ferry Road Northwest; and the Waldorf Astoria Spa Atlanta at 3376 Peachtree Road Northeast. β€œThe number of spas listed by Spas of America for each state is in proportion to the number of spas in that state. California has the most spas listed with 143, followed by Florida at 79 and New York at 45. North Dakota is the only state with no spas listed.” (Breaking Travel News)
