Lindbergh Area Goes Uptown As Mixed-Use Development Revamped
New business center atrium opens this month with virtual sporting venue as part of reimagined mixed-use Lindbergh neighborhood.

ATLANTA — The Lindbergh community is getting a makeover and new name.
The commercial and residential district anchored by the Lindbergh MARTA station and MARTA’s headquarters is now being called Uptown Atlanta.
Amid the bustle of daily rail commuters will be an infusion of art and public activity that will create a calming community feel where residents and workers alike can gel.

Developers are calling the million square feet of restaurants, office space and green community space a “hyper-accessible” mix-use community that will breathe new life into an area that is vital to traffic moving into and out of Buckhead and Atlanta.
“Our redevelopment efforts are focused on revitalizing this important transit-oriented destination and providing the community with vibrant restaurants and retail, enhanced connectivity, modern office amenities, green space and recreational trails,” said Taylor Smith, southeast senior vice president and director for Philadelphia-based real estate investment firm Rubenstein Partners. “We are investing in an important transit node in Atlanta by transforming Uptown into a great place for our community to shop, dine, work and play.”

Already, free cultural and social events, from group yoga, comedy shows and gnomic picnics to artists markets, movie nights and eclectic performances, are promoted and held each week on The Lawn, the property’s expansive green space. And North Georgia’s creative art collective, The Hambridge Center, has already transformed a 12,000 square foot space along Piedmont Avenue into its Cross Pollination Art Lab, a series of art galleries, studios and performance spaces.
Rubenstein Partners and investment fund Monarch Alternative Capital acquired the property two years ago with the goal of broadening the scope of the retail district and modernizing the office building, which completes construction of its atrium this month.
“We are reimagining the 35,000-square-foot office atrium into a modern, high-tech environment with a slew of amenities, such as a gaming center with video game equipment, golf simulator, bocce ball and foosball; coffee shop and wine bar; second-story conference space; and state-of-the-art fitness center,” Smith said.
Some of the office space will be the new home of e-sport company Skillshot Media, which Smith said is relocating its production studios, classroom and training areas, and other administrative functions from Alpharetta to host some of its gaming events in the atrium.
Construction on more buildings and the Main Street streetscape are expected to be complete next year, he said, with globally inspired retail, outdoor patio space, and eventual connections to area biking and walking trails.
“As a transit- and trail-oriented mixed-use destination, Uptown will serve as a new place of connection for Atlanta,” Smith said. “Located between Midtown and Buckhead, we are redeveloping Uptown to be a hyper-accessible, active hub and a single point convergence for some of the city’s largest pedestrian and bike trails including The Atlanta BeltLine and The South Fork Trail.”
