πŸ“° Here are the top stories today in Buckhead:

  1. Buckhead cityhood update: The city released a sternly worded press release Wednesday, giving space to organizations β€œvoicing their opposition to the deannexation of the Buckhead community.” In this case, the Atlanta Board of Education strongly opposed the cityhood movement. Also opposed are the Midtown Alliance, Council for Quality Growth, Buckhead Coalition, and Atlanta Committee for Progress. (City of Atlanta)
  2. The Loudermilk Estate at 825 Davis Drive changed owners for the first time since 1999. Listed at $9 million in November, it sold for $8.6 million last week. In addition to a stunning structure, the new owners get β€œa fishing pond, waterfall, greenhouse, an old log cabin that was once a hunting lodge, and a barn.” (Buckhead)
  3. Revelers know that the MJQ Concourse is at 736 Ponce De Leon Avenue Northeast. In business for a quarter of a century, it’s now time to move. The new location will be the space formerly taken up by Dante’s Down the Hatch Restaurant at 3380 Peachtree Road. β€œThe history of the city is getting wiped away, so it only makes sense that we escape deeper down into Atlanta’s history for safety,” the co-owner said. Look for an opening date sometime in early 2024. (Rough Draft Atlanta)
  4. The BeltLine's ceremonial groundbreakings will take place β€œon both the Southside Trail and Westside Trail corridors” this month. As you know, the Northeast Trail section is already under construction, with an estimated fall opening date. On March 13, the ceremony will be β€œon the unpaved Southside Trail just south of Glenwood Avenue” at the red sculpture. Get here by 1 p.m.! On March 22, it’s time for the groundbreaking of the Westside Trail’s portion. (Beltline, Urbanize Atlanta)
  5. What’ya doing this weekend? If you’ve got no idea, consider visiting the 2023 Atlanta Fair that’s opening on March 3. It’ll set up across the street from Center Parc Stadium. If you’re going on opening day, the hours are 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. If that’s a little late for the kiddos, consider going Saturday or Sunday, when the fair opens at 1 p.m. (Atlanta Fair)
