Police in Gwinnett County are seeking two male suspects who kidnapped a man from his Duluth home and then drove him to a nearby bank on Cheshire Bridge Road to withdraw money.
According to a police news release, the victim was abducted about 1:30 a.m. Wednesday (Sept. 11) after returning home from work at his apartment complex, the Bridgewater Apartments on Ridge Brook Trail.
The suspects ordered the victim back into his car at gunpoint and ordered him to drive onto I-85 South, police said. After a short time, the suspects ordered him to pull over, and forced the man into the back seat. Then he was pistol-whipped and beaten as the suspects demanded access to his bank account.
Eventually, the suspects drove to a Wells Fargo on Cheshire Bridge Road and withdrew money using a PIN that the victim provided. After obtaining money, the suspects abandoned the vehicle and the victim.
The victim was able to drive home, at which time he and his brother called police. The victim's brother also reported that the suspects demanded a ransom using the victim's phone.
The victim was in the suspects' custody for about five hours, and was attacked several times, police said. Despite visible injuries, the suspect did not want to be hospitalized, and remained with family.
Police are seeking two African-American men about 19 years old in connection with this case. One man is thought to be about 6 feet tall, the other about 5-foot-7, both with average builds.
