MARTA Data Breach Affects Almost 800 Workers
A mail merge malfunction sent personal information to incorrect addressees, the authority reported Thursday.

Almost 800 MARTA employees were offered free credit monitoring after an e-mail malfunction sent their personal information to the wrong people in June.
MARTA said Thursday that the foul-up occurred when roughly 785 employees enrolled for critical care insurance; a βmechanical malfunctionβ occurred during the mail merge process, causing the information to be sent to incorrect addresses, the Atlanta Business Chronicle reports.
Officials discovered the malfunction on June 12 and informed the affected employees on June 16, MARTA told the Chronicle.
