MARTA Officer Shot by Attempted Robbery Suspect

The officer was shot in the face, but has already been released from the hospital. The suspects were not arrested.

A MARTA police officer spent time in the hospital Thursday night after he was shot in the face by a suspect who had just tried to rob someone at a nearby station, according to a report.

The officer was flagged down by the victim, who said two suspects tried to rob him at the H.E. Holmes station, MARTA police told WSB-TV. The suspects then ran across the street to a shopping center where the officer made contact with them.

One of the suspects pulled out a gun and shot the officer, WSB-TV reports. The bullet grazed the officer’s face, but did not seriously wound him. He had already been released from the hospital as of Friday morning.
