πŸ“° Here are the top stories in Buckhead today:

  1. On Friday, just before 11 p.m., the Atlanta Police Department (APD) responded to 1905 Piedmont Road Northeast after reports of shots fired. They connected with a 49-year-old man with multiple gunshot wounds but still alive. Reportedly, the man was engaged in a β€œdispute concerning a narcotics transaction” at 1896 Piedmont Road Northeast, when he was shot. (APD)
  2. Atlanta Mayor Andre Dickens expressed relief on Friday during a meeting with the Atlanta Committee for Progress. β€œToday was definitely a victory lap around squashing the de-annexation effort,” he said. He pointed to Cousins Properties, located in Buckhead and the largest landowner in the city, as being an example of a stakeholder uninterested in having two cities. (Saporta Report)
  3. Liveable Buckhead volunteers spent Saturday painting over graffiti. They went to Mountain Way Common on Ivy Road Northeast. Since it's partially located underneath a highway overpass, it's a lure for taggers who see the concrete as a personal challenge. (Liveable Buckhead)
  4. The Breman Museum at 1440 Spring Street Northwest has a treat for you. On March 12, enjoy selections from the Great American Songbook as part of the Molly Blank Concert Series. Saxophonist Houston Person and pianist Joe Alterman will deliver β€œgood solid melodies with some improvisation and plenty of blues feel.” The duo’s bona fides are in order. Alterman has played the big venues and Person accompanied Etta Jones. (Roughdraft Atlanta)
  5. Mend Coffee is opening up at 3655 Roswell Road Northeast, in the space previously occupied by Marcello's. An opening date may be coming as soon as this fall. Mend is a retail concept that β€œwill offer dignifying employment to adults with disabilities, as well as beautiful accessibility-first spaces for gathering, working, and celebrating.” The founders are Jay and Katherine Wolf of Hope Heals. (What Now Atlanta)
