Daylight Saving Time Poll! 🤔
Daylight saving time begins on March 12. According to history, we can thank entomologist George Hudson for coming up with the idea in 1895. Implementation took place in 1918 to save resources and extend the work day during wartime. In 1966, daylight saving time became the law of the land, but states could opt out. So far, only Hawaii and Arizona have done so. Now, dueling studies point to the successes and failures of the practice. Where do you stand on the issue? So far, 64.4% don’t like daylight saving time, while 34.8% do. Only 0.7% don’t care one way or the other.

📰 Here are the top stories today in Buckhead:

  1. Late on Wednesday afternoon, members of the Atlanta Police Department (APD) responded to 1888 Peachtree Road Northeast. They encountered a 35-year-old man with a gunshot wound. The victim explained that he was shot at 1820 Peachtree Road Northeast when he got into an argument with several people. Eventually, the argument escalated into a shooting. (APD)
  2. And just like that, the push for Buckhead cityhood is back. A bill introduced in the state Senate on Tuesday revives the issue that Lieutenant Governor Geoff Duncan tried to make go away last year by “directing it to a committee led by Democrats, where it wouldn't advance.” True to their word, supporters of the issue aren’t letting it rest. Proponents believe that turning Buckhead into its own city could help reduce crime. Opponents say it’s a “cheap sales pitch” that “would harm the rest of Atlanta.” Now, we wait to see if the bill passes the Georgia General Assembly and makes it to the governor’s desk. (11 Alive)
  3. Shoe aficionados know designer Sarah Flint. However, do you also know that her Faraway Fables spring collection launched Tuesday? Look for bright colors and eye-catching patterns that provide the vehicle for the luxurious elegance you know. It’s interesting to note that this collection has four chapters, the first of which is Return to Royalty. The other three releases are scheduled for March, April and May, and called Wild Waters, Weaving Magic and Wonders in the Woods. (The Atlanta Voice)
  4. Check in on your Gen X friends; we’re not okay. Skinny Puppy, the legendary industrial band that rocked our world in college, opens its 40th anniversary farewell tour this spring, coming to The Buckhead Theatre on April 13. Let’s get our tickets and say goodbye to another vestige of our youth. (Treble)
  5. If you’re looking for a place to watch “the big game” this weekend, consider Johnny’s Hideaway at 3771 Roswell Road Northeast. Insiders tested the waters and believe the “full-house sound and a big screen broadcasting” will be a great way to enjoy the game. The tailgate buffet is ready around 5 p.m. (Access Atlanta)
