Peach Drop 2016: Where to Park, Who's Playing

Here's everything you need to know if you're heading downtown for the big event.

ATLANTA, GA -- Atlanta is welcoming in 2016 the same way its welcomed in every year since 1989 - by dropping an 800-pound peach at Underground Atlanta.

The 27th Annual Peach Drop is an all-evening party which kicks off at 7 p.m. Performers scheduled to appear Thursday night include T.I., Sister Hazel, Velveteen Pink, All Cows Eat Grass, and DJ Eddie J.

If you’re driving to the event this evening, be advised that you cannot park in Underground Atlanta’s parking decks. Use this interactive map to find a lot you can use tonight.

At 4 p.m., Atlanta police will be forming a perimeter around Central Ave- Peachtree Center Ave; Sprint Street- Walton Street- Forsyth Street; M.L. King; and Ellis Street – Carnegie Way. Traffic can flow on the perimeter but cannot enter it, according to police. A pedestrian-only corridor will be in place by 5 p.m.

Visitors are asked not to bring large bags, backpacks, or coolers to the Peach Drop. Small bags are allowed but are subject to search.
