Piedmont Healthcare Donates 4,334 Pounds of Medical Supplies
The supplies were donated to MedShare, which seeks to improve healthcare for people in developing countries.

Over the last six months,Β PiedmontΒ Healthcare has donated 4,334 pounds of medical supplies to MedShare, a nonprofit organizationΒ dedicated to improving healthcare for those in need through the efficient recovery and redistribution of medical supplies and equipment.Β is responsible for donating 1,671 pounds of the supplies.
Recently, MedShare shipped a 40-foot container of life-saving supplies to Moyamba, Sierra Leone.Β The container included boxes of ambu bags, syringes, sutures, alcohol prep pads, iodine bottles, diapers, cast boots and more. These items were donated byΒ Piedmont Healthcare and other healthcare facilities around the U.S.
βIt is important forΒ PiedmontΒ Healthcare and its affiliatedΒ hospitalsΒ to be active in the community as much as possible,β said Holly Lang, director of community benefit forΒ PiedmontΒ Healthcare. βBy working with MedShare, weβre taking a step further and getting involved with the global community, which is also in need of our support.β

The Moyamba GovernmentΒ Hospital, which received the recent donations, serves as a major health provider for the surrounding villages, serving approximately 200 patients per month. Some major health problems the Moyamba GovernmentΒ HospitalΒ sees include malaria, parasite infestations, malnutrition and tuberculosis.
