πŸ“° Here are the top stories in Buckhead today:

  1. On Friday, in the late afternoon, the Atlanta Police Department (APD) responded to reports of gunshots at 863 Ponce De Leon Ave Northeast. Officers found a man whose foot was wounded by a bullet. Reportedly, he got into an argument with an acquaintance, things got hot, and the shot was fired. (APD)
  2. MARTA finished the Red Line’s track replacement south of Medical Center Station. It will return to its usual schedule on Sunday. Drivers will be happy to know that the GA400 lane closures will also end. By the way, MARTA paid out $9,926.20 in ride-share vouchers during the track work; 22,000 customers took the shuttles. (Rough Draft Atlanta)
  3. Who’s enforcing the 2019 ordinance regulating the use of scooters? Friday’s report shows that a frequent BeltLine user has questions. You may remember that the rules included basic safety ideas like wearing helmets for those under 16, one person riding per scooter, or not using a cell phone while riding. We also have the problem of folks dumping their scooters without placing them upright to the side. Reportedly, the PD decided to β€œput the rookie cops on the Path Force and that they receive little training and fewer benefits, so the turnover is quite high.” (Saporta Report)
  4. You already know that Twilio is laying off 17% of its workers, about 1,500 employees. Concurrently, it will restructure its operating model and cut perks like Twilio Recharge and β€œbook and wellness allowances.” For Buckhead employees, it reportedly means that 54 workers will need to find new jobs. (Twilio, Biz Journals/paywall)
