⏰ Daylight Saving Time Poll! πŸ€”
Daylight saving time begins on March 12. According to history, we can thank entomologist George Hudson for coming up with the idea in 1895. Implementation took place in 1918 to save resources and extend the work day during wartime. In 1966, daylight saving time became the law of the land, but states could opt out. So far, only Hawaii and Arizona have done so. Now, dueling studies point to the successes and failures of the practice. Where do you stand on the issue? So far, 64% don’t like daylight saving time, while 35.1% do. Only 0.9% don’t care one way or the other.

πŸ“° Here are the top stories in Buckhead today:

  1. Who’s the Buckhead bank robber? The suspect entered Ameris Bank at 3724 Roswell Road Northeast on Thursday at 3:37 p.m. A note demanding money netted him $7,050. According to surveillance video, the suspect is likely a white male β€œwearing a red hat, black face mask, and black jacket.” (RoughDraft Atlanta)
  2. We talked about it before, but the date’s coming closer. On February 17 at 9 p.m., MARTA will end rail service south of Medical Center Station until February 22. Free shuttles will run between that station and Lennox Stations. You can also receive ride-share vouchers. Of note is that Red Line β€œservice to the airport resumes Thursday, Feb. 23 and full service will be restored Sunday, Feb. 26.” (WSB Radio)
  3. Peachtree's undergoing some much-needed paving. It started today, Tuesday, and will continue until Wednesday. Crews will close the north and southbound lanes near Piedmont Road intermittently, beginning at 8:30 a.m. and lasting until 4 p.m. Unless you want to get caught in traffic, avoid the area. (Liveable Buckhead)
  4. A closed Lenox Square was the backdrop for training exercises of the Atlanta Police Department (APD) on Sunday. The Atlanta Fire Department (AFD) participated as well. The reality-based training was off-limits to spectators. β€œFrom 2020 to 2021, police responded to a number of shootings at the mall in Buckhead.” (WSB-TV)
  5. The AFD responded Saturday night to a structure fire at 380 Auburn Avenue Northeast. Firefighters found a two-story building with β€œheavy fire on the roof and rear.” Anticipating an imminent roof collapse, firefighters took a defensive stance and prevented the blaze from spreading. Nobody was hurt, and investigators are now looking for the fire’s cause. (AFD)
