πŸ“° Here are the top stories in Buckhead today:

  1. On Monday evening, the Atlanta Police Department (ATL) responded to 392 Chappell Road Northwest, where officers encountered a 27-year-old man with a gunshot wound. Reportedly, he was shot elsewhere, but then ran to that address. The victim knows the shooting suspect. (ATL)
  2. Happy Birthday to the Atlanta Public Schools! If you head downtown to The Alonzo A. Crim Center for Leaning and Leadership, you see a public display that commemorates 150 years of teaching and learning. β€œThe collection tells so many stories of a school system that rose out of the ashes of the Civil War, to the era of Civil Rights, to the members of the Legacy of Leadership who led the way,” an archivist explained Monday. (WSB-TV)
  3. Beginning on March 24, you’ll be able to find Jackson Fine Art at 3122 East Shadowlawn Avenue, which is right across the street from the location where it’s been for more than three decades. What prompted the move? A need for space. The new venue is β€œa 4,000-square-foot, custom-built gallery that has a light, open feel and features more exhibition space, offices, inventory and meeting spaces.” The first artist talk is also already on the calendar for March 25 at 11 a.m. (Saporta Report)
  4. Ladies, are you overdue for a mammogram? Why not have one in the comfort of The DRIPBaR? HerScan is bringing breast cancer ultrasound screening to the location on March 17 and April 14. Between the hours of 9 a.m. and 4 p.m., you can get the β€œpainless, no radiation, implant safe” scan done. Results are sent directly to you. (Patch)
  5. Some street closures are coming your way. β€œGrand Theft Lotto” is a movie using the area as its backdrop. You may have already seen the lane closures on Peachtree Street, which will be ongoing until March 23. However, you’re going to encounter full street closures on Peachtree and on Martin Luther King Jr. Drive on March 16. Plan your detour now. (Mayor’s Office of Film & Entertainment)
