Here are the top three stories in Buckhead today:

  1. David Ralston, who has served as the speaker of the Georgia House of Representatives since 2010, died on Wednesday after an illness. The House Majority Leader John Burns will become speaker in January for the General Assembly’s next annual session. For now, Speaker Pro Tem Jan Jones will be the temporary speaker. Mayor Andre Dickens of Buckhead made a statement, which you can read here. (Subscription: The Atlanta Journal-Constitution)
  2. Mayor Andre Dickens made a new appointment for the Atlanta Department of Transportation Commissioner. Solomon Caviness, IV, will lead the way to implement the city’s $750 million infrastructure improvement initiative that was approved by voters. (City of Atlanta Government via Facebook)
  3. Buckhead native and artistic director Anthony Rodriguez makes plans to β€œchange the face of Atlanta forever.” As executive director of HUB404, he’s leading the charge to create a new cap park near the Buckhead Marta Station.
