Suspect Posing As Uber Driver Sexually Assaults Woman In Buckhead: Police

Atlanta police are looking for man who pretended to be an Uber driver and sexually assaulted a woman in Buckhead.

BUCKHEAD, GA -- Atlanta police are asking for the public to help them find the man who pretended to be an Uber driver, picked up a female passenger and sexually assaulted her. The horrific incident happened March 11 when the woman, who was inebriated, left Fado Irish Pub and was picked up near Buckhead Avenue and N. Fulton Drive.

Uber has told local investigators that they have no record that the man drives for their ride-sharing service. Police have released a sketch and a picture of the front end of his vehicle in hopes that someone may recognize the perpetrator, who remains a danger to the community.

Police said the man took the woman on a harrowing two-hour ordeal that included a stop by the ATM, where she was forced to withdraw money. He also climbed into the back seat and sexually assaulting her with his hands.

"The driver claimed to be an Uber driver and started towards her destination home. He didn't necessarily take her home, he drove her around for several hours before he brought the vehicle to a stop and climbed into the back seat with her,” Sgt. Warren Pickard told WAGA-TV. β€œWhile in the back seat, he used his hands to sexually assault her as well as taking control of her hands to put on his body and continues to assault her in that manner.”

When the man drove up to the ATM, surveillance cameras were able to get a picture of the front of his vehicle, but not the license plate. Police said the vehicle appears to be a dark-colored Ford, possibly a Fusion.
