'Takeover' of Lenox Square Parking Lot Set for Friday

Livable Buckhead is staging a "takeover" the Lenox Square Mall parking lot for PARK(ing) Day.

ATLANTA, GA β€” Livable Buckhead, a nonprofit organization focusing on creating more greenspace in Buckhead, is celebrating PARK(ing) Day by staging a β€œtakeover” of Buckhead’s biggest sea of concrete – the Lenox Square Mall parking lot on Friday, Sept. 16.

Seventeen businesses and nonprofit organizations will each create a parking spot-sized park, competing against one another to win top honors in award categories including Most Creative, WTF, Meanest Greenest, Most Buckhead and Most Interactive. Visitors to the event – which also features Food Trucks and door prizes – will choose the winner of the Most Popular mini-park award.

  • Delicious lunch offerings from metro Atlanta’s food trucks: Five Finger Philly Cheesesteaks, Cattywampus Grill, Viet-Nomie’s, The Pup Truck, One Love Jerk Grill and Tracy’s Tasties
  • Door prize drawings: AC Hotel one-night stay, Highland Bakery gift card, True Foods gift card, Whole Foods gift card

WHEN: Friday, September 16, 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.

WHY: PARK(ing) Day is a global event where artists, activists and citizens temporarily transform parking spaces into public parks and other social spaces. Livable Buckhead is also using this opportunity to raise funds for PATH400 and other parks and green spaces.

VISUALS: Participants will each transform a parking spot into a greenspace to be envied. Mini-parks include a boardwalk design from Kimley-Horn and a virtual reality park from Rosser International. Other participants include the Atlanta Braves, Patagonia and ATL Cruzers.
