π° Here are the top stories today in Buckhead:
- The Atlanta Fire Rescue Department (AFRD) rushed to the 800 block of Woods Drive Northwest on Tuesday. A caller alerted them in the morning that a two-story home was on fire and two adults and six children couldnβt get out. By the time firefighters arrived, everyone was able to get out by βclimbing down the side of a balcony,β which made it possible to aggressively attack the flames. Once extinguished, fire investigators concluded that the blaze started βfrom grease on the stove.β (AFRD)
- Citizens Market at Phipps Plaza will open in April and is constructed to βdisrupt the food hall industry.β It's a partnership between C3 (Creating Culinary Communities) and Legends, which insiders hail as a marriage between culinary brands and IP technology, along with sports and entertainment. Buckhead will be the first setup; future Citizens Market openings are planned for Chicago, Miami and London. The group believes it found the restaurant businessβ holy grail by combining an excellent location with βrenowned chefs and famed celebrity, YouTube and influencer partners.β (Legends International)
- Across the street, the Lenox Marketplace is also being reimagined. Itβll get a new name β The Block at Phipps β and European flair. These renovations will begin later this year βto create a vibrant, walkable district with more retail.β A promenade, now called a paseo, will recall βa European alleyway.β Itβs going to be interesting to see how this looks; after all, we've seen plenty of European alleyways where you wouldnβt like to shop. (Atlanta Urbanize)
- We learned on Tuesday that the owner of the Plaza Theatre plans to reopen the Tara Cinema at 2345 Cheshire Bridge Road Northeast. The destination of choice for moviegoers favoring foreign films and independent flicks shut down in November. βIn just a few months, Iβm looking forward to welcoming you,β he said. If youβd like to help, you can pre-buy vouchers to use after the venue reopens. (Saporta Report)
- The Emory Brain Health Center will host a health discussion geared toward minority men. The βTaking Control of Your Healthβ event takes places March 9. Men will enjoy βfood, fun and fellowshipβ while learning how to take charge of healthy living. (Patch)
