Taverna Pizzeria and Risotteria Opens In Buckhead

BUCKHEAD, GA -- A long-awaited pizza joint opened Thursday at The Shops Buckhead Atlanta, Patch has learned. Dallas-based Taverna Pizzeria and Risotteria, which has made its name serving authentic Italian fare and signature risotto dishes, will begin serving lunch on Friday, May 5.

The restaurant's entry into the Buckhead dining scene comes one year after the closing of pizzeria Thirteen Pies, which opened in The Shops Buckhead Atlanta to much fanfare in 2014. While Thirteen Pies focused on 12 signature pizzas, Taverna has much more robust cuisine.

The eatery's menu is curated by Tuscany, Italy native and executive chef Renato De Pirro and features homemade cappelletti romagnoli stuffed with ricotta, mortadella, prosciutto and parmesan in a Bolognese sauce.

The menu also boasts five signature risottos, including risotto al parmigiano con salsa tartufata with parmesan cheese and black truffle sauce; risotto con burrata with burrata, roasted heirloom cherry tomatoes, basil and crispy prosciutto.

Taverna is located at at 250 Buckhead Avenue, Suite 317 and will be open for lunch and dinner Monday through Sunday from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. and for brunch on Saturday and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.
