πŸ“° Here are the top stories today in Buckhead:

  1. The Atlanta Police Department (APD) responded to reports of a stabbing at 2315 Glenwood Avenue Southeast on Tuesday around 2 p.m. Officers encountered two victims with stab wounds. The suspect, a woman, stood nearby and was holding a knife. Officers tased her after she refused to drop the weapon. She’s now in custody, facing charges of β€œAggravated Assault and Possession of a Knife During the Commission of a Felony.” (APD)
  2. On Tuesday, the Atlanta Department of Watershed was hard at work to contain a water main break near the intersection of Peachtree and Piedmont roads. The 20-inch pipe gave way much earlier. According to officials, the β€œwater main break is impacting at least 10 businesses in the area, two high-rise apartment buildings and several hydrants.” (WSB-TV)
  3. A day after the attack on the site referred to as β€œCop City,” clergy members went to City Hall for a protest. Clergy members urged counterparts to use their roles as β€œa moral authority in our society” to show support of the "forest protectors." Clergy members pointed to the land’s initial ownership by the Muscogee Nation and subsequent use as a prison farm as creating a β€œpainful history” that should be preserved to β€œbecome a place of healing for all people.” Besides that, faith leaders disputed the announcement that opponents to the building project are largely β€œoutside agitators” and want others to do the same. (RoughDraft Atlanta)
  4. Besides the local groups that have expressed relief at the failure of the cityhood movement, do you know who else is happy? The Town of Buckhead in Morgan County. Its 194 residents opposed the idea of having another Buckhead in the state. Already, folks looking for the Buckhead neighborhood of Atlanta are sent to the town courtesy of GPS snafus. β€œWe thought we would have to continue fighting, but we may not have to, now,” Mayor Steve Bryant said. (Morgan County Citizen/paywall)
  5. The Atlanta St. Patrick’s Parade is Friday! It starts at noon on Peachtree Street near the Woodruff Arts Center, but you really should be in place at 11 a.m. If you’d like to ride in the parade, win the 8th Annual St. Patrick’s Parade 5K! It’ll start at 9:45 a.m. but you need to register by Thursday at 1:30 a.m.! (Atlanta St. Patrick’s)
