Calvin Jones Art Exhibit Opening

This exhibition serves as an introduction although Calvin Jones rightfully holds the position of an established exhibiting Atlanta artist. His moody, interpretive landscapes range from a very personal pictorial form to one that pushes the boundaries further and add layers of abstraction into what we think of as a traditional subject.

Trains, Trains, Trains

Here's a great family-friendly event that's sure to be a great start to your MLK Weekend. Take a mini road trip up to the Southern Museum of Civil War & Locomotive History in Kennesaw and enjoy crafts, tips and techniques for building a home layout and a variety of different model train layouts that can be operated by children of all ages. The daylong event will also include interactive activities, including a train-themed story time, railroad music and vendors selling a variety of train-related items.

When: 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Where: Southern Museum of Civil War & Locomotive History, 2829 Cherokee Street, Kennesaw

Cost: $7.50 for adults, $6.50 for seniors, $5.50 for children ages 4-12 and free for children three and under; coupons and discounts will not be accepted on the day of the event.

Stellar Bodies

Join the So Fit Ladies, a group of women from all over Atlanta who get together to try some of Atlanta's greatest workouts, for Stellar Bodies, a new twist on Pilates. This total-body workout encompasses cardio and strength training elements and emphasizes core stability and functional movement.

When: 10-11 a.m.

Assemblage: A Culture Shock Event

The High is bringing together an amazing collection of musical artists for one evening of storytelling and sound. The public is invited to experience two inspirational exhibitions, Fast Forward: Modern Moments 1913>>2013 and Hard Truths: The Art of Thornton Dial, with musical guests performing in the most unlikely spaces. Performances by: Lonnie Holley and Cole Alexander Faye Webster Rex Hussman The Crankies Phillip Roebuck Cicada Rhythm Music curated by Matt Arnett.

When: 8 p.m. to midnight
