Buckhead Village was filled with about 600 Waldo and Wanda lookalikes Saturday as part of a world record attempt to have as many people as possible in one place dress up as the classic characters of the Where's Waldo book series.
Although the record of 3,872 was not broken, the Where's Waldo Bar CrawlΒ event still benefited a local nonprofit. A portion of the proceeds from the bar crawl were donated to OneSight, aΒ nonprofit organization committed to providing clearΒ vision to millions in need through the hand-delivery of primary vision care andΒ eyewear. The Waldos and Wandas were areΒ encouraged to bring gently worn eyewear for men, womenΒ and children. All donated eyewear will be recycled by OneSight volunteers andΒ hand-delivered on one ofΒ their Global Optical Clinics.
Participants were able to find Waldo-related items at participating bars as part of a scavenger hunt. An 80s tribute band played during the crawl's "after party" and prizes were awarded throughout the event.
