Whiz Kids: Westminster Students Honored as National Scholarship Semifinalists
About 41 percent of Westminster's current senior class has been recognized by the National Merit Corporation for outstanding performance on the 2011 PSATs.
Almost 85 seniors, 41 percent of the current senior class, at Westminster have been recognized by the National Merit Corporation for their performance on the 2011 PSATs.
Of those recognized:
- 31 National Merit Semifinalists were among the 16,000 highest scorers nationwide.
- 9 National Achievement Semifinalists were honored among 1,600 African-American high school seniors.
- 44 students earned "Commended" status.
The Semifinalists will have the opportunity to advance in the competition for 8,300 National Merit Scholarships and 800 National Achievement Scholarships that are awarded in the spring.
