Whiz Kids: Westminster Students Honored as National Scholarship Semifinalists

Almost 85 seniors, 41 percent of the current senior class, at Westminster have been recognized by the National Merit Corporation for their performance on the 2011 PSATs.

Of those recognized:

• 31 National Merit Semifinalists were among the 16,000 highest scorers nationwide.
• 9 National Achievement Semifinalists were honored among 1,600 African-American high school seniors.
• 44 students earned "Commended" status.

The Semifinalists will have the opportunity to advance in the competition for 8,300 National Merit Scholarships and 800 National Achievement Scholarships that are awarded in the spring.

Westminster National Achievement Semifinalists: Erin Borders, Cornelius Chandler, Autumn Hill, Meyer Horne, Katelyn Jones, Mallory Lyles, Tyler Mitchell, Erika Redding and Robert Wilkins.

Westminster National Merit Semifinalists: Courtland Buchanan, William Burge, Zachary Butner, Isabel Callaway, Colin Campbell, Lillian Chin, Kelsey Crane, Albert Dai, James Dalton, Lauren Davis, John Gangemi, Anna Heller, Rachel Insolia, Caroline Jones, Raymond Jones, Kunal Kamath,Kevin Lou, Carter Maguire,Lucy McGinnis, Margaret Panetta, Rahul Patel, James Pavur, Henry Quillian, Evan Roback, Sela Sarkisian, Richard Graham Seagroves, Joseph Sheehan, Timothy Shu, Michael Sterling, Robert Wilkins and Brooks Withrow.
