⏰ Daylight Saving Time Poll! πŸ€”
Daylight saving time begins on March 12. According to history, we can thank entomologist George Hudson for coming up with the idea in 1895. Implementation took place in 1918 to save resources and extend the work day during wartime. In 1966, daylight saving time became the law of the land, but states could opt out. So far, only Hawaii and Arizona have done so. Now, dueling studies point to the successes and failures of the practice. Where do you stand on the issue? So far, 61.4% don’t like daylight saving time, while 38.6% do.

πŸ“° Here are the top stories in Buckhead today:

  1. A 26-year-old woman reportedly sustained a gunshot wound Friday evening at 4106 Lakeshore Crossing Northeast. Authorities believe the shooting occurred a little before 7 p.m. during an attempted robbery. The police department dispatched its Aggravated Assault Unit. (Atlanta News First)
  2. The Atlanta Police Department (APD) responded to the hospital to interview a stabbing victim on Friday, just before 8:30 p.m. The man said he was at 350 Peeples Street Southwest, in the area of Dean Rusk Park, when he got into an argument with someone he knows. The argument escalated, leading to the victim sustaining β€œlacerations to his body.” (APD)
  3. The Clean Energy Advisory Board was relaunched on Friday. You may remember that its initial launch took place in 2020 to put into practice the city’s Clean Energy Plan to β€œachieve 100 percent clean energy by 2035.” The city released the names and qualifications of the individuals on the Advisory Board. (City of Atlanta)
  4. Lauren’s Run & Picnic is a go for April 30. The event takes place at the Concourse Office Park. If you sign up now, you can take advantage of early bird pricing. Participate in 5Ks, fun runs, walks and the tot-trot. Of course, you can always stop by to cheer on runners and join the CURE picnic (Run Signup).
  5. If you’d like to lend a helping hand to the friendly folks taking care of Atlanta Memorial Park, why not volunteer for a forest restoration day on February 25? You’ll go off-trail, looking for β€” and removing β€” invasive plants such as English ivy. Remember to bring water! (Trees Atlanta)
