Wrestling Legend Ric Flair On The Mend In Atlanta Hospital: Report

Wrestling legend Ric Flair underwent surgery Monday after being admitted to the hospital in Atlanta. Fans have been showing support.

ATLANTA, GA -- Wrestling legend Ric Flair is on the mend after being in intensive care this week suffering from an undisclosed illness. Flair was admitted to an Atlanta-area hospital over the weekend for “routine monitoring," his family told a popular wrestling website.

On Tuesday, actor and former wrestling champ Hulk Hogan tweeted best wishes to his longtime colleague, saying "Ric Flair only prayers, love and positive thoughts, now it's time to kick out because you can and you will always be 'The Man' my brother."

Fans on the internet have been wishing Flair, known for theatrical strutting and other fanciful antics inside the wrestling ring, love as the news of his ill health cascaded on social media. The worries began Sunday night when a representative of the 68-year-old took to social media to ask for prayers for Flair, who was born Richard Morgan Fliehr.

Melinda Morris Zanoni of Legacy Talent tweeted the ominous message as the weekend came to a close: "We need your prayers, positive energy, and well wishes for our Living Legend as he is dealing with some tough medical issues."

“Yes, Ric is checked into a hospital for some routine monitoring," Morris added in a later tweet. "No, there is no reason to panic.”Adding, “Yes, we’d like to thank his fiancé & the incredible hospital staff who are providing the best care. No, we cannot answer any personal questions. Yes, Ric would want you to go out and have a great weekend … Nature Boy style!”

Falcons head coach Dan Quinn tweeted about Flairon Monday, saying: "Thoughts and prayers with today. Stay strong! ."

TMZ Sports reported that Flair had emerged from surgery late Monday and was surrounded by family. There was no update on his condition as of Tuesday.
