Here are the top three stories today in Buckhead:
- Young Thug is being sued for $150,000 over his canceled Jun. 18 concert at State Farm Arena. The Atlanta-based rapper, who remains in jail amid a sweeping criminal indictment, was set to receive $300,000 for his performance and was given $150,000 upfront. According to last week's filing, concert scheduling company A-1 Concert has not been reimbursed; A-1 is also seeking damages and attorneys' fees. (Subscription: The Atlanta Journal Constitution)
- A 90-second video of an arrest in Buckhead gained attention on social media, garnering accusations of excessive force. The video, recorded during an incident in Shady Valley Park last Monday evening, quickly gained traction online. In response, the Atlanta Police Department has released body camera footage and said that in reviewing the incident, it was "immediately clear there is more to this story than the short social media video shows." (Fox News)
- Georgia Commute Options' Million Air Challenge kicked off yesterday, Aug. 15, and will run through Aug. 28. Residents who participate are eligible to win grand prizes, including a $500 gift card to Big Peach Running Company and a one-year Family Plus Membership to the Atlanta Botanical Garden.
