• $983M Mega Millions prize claimed by Georgia resident, officials confirm (fox5atlanta.com) — Buford residents might remember the $478.2 million Powerball ticket sold locally in October 2024, which has now been surpassed by a $983 million Mega Millions jackpot claimed by a Georgia resident. Officials say the anonymous winner bought the historic ticket in Newnan, chose a $453.6 million cash payout, and plans to support family and charitable causes.
