Here are the top five stories today in Canton-Sixes:

1. According to the Georgia Department of Public Safety, at least 20 people in Georgia lost their lives over the Jul. 4 weekend. At least eight of the deaths were in the metro Atlanta area, including Cherokee County. (WSB TV)
2. Canton native Montrell Washington has recently been added to the Broncos as a wide receiver. Washington reportedly learned to love the game as a kid growing up here in Georgia. Visit The Athletic for the full profile on Washington. (The Athletic)
3. Alexander Riddle, a Sequoyah High School student who will be attending University of Georgia, was awarded the Global Sports Development's 2022 Exceptional Youth Scholarship.
