Arson Suspect Arrested In Cherokee Christmas Fire

Cherokee County fire officials are accusing a man of intentionally setting fire to a local commercial building on Christmas Day.

CANTON, GA — A man is facing arson charges after being accused of purposely setting fire to a Marietta Road commercial building on Christmas Day, fire officials said Wednesday.

The fire sparked around 3:15 p.m., Dec. 25, 2025 in the 200 block of Marietta, Cherokee County Fire and Emergency Services said.

Crews arrived to find smoke billowing from the roof and flames inside the building, fire officials said. No one was inside the building at the time, and no one was injured, they added.

After a partnership with local authorities, fire officials said they were able to identify the suspect as Blake Louis Bishop, of Canton.

Bishop was arrested on charges of first-degree arson, second-degree criminal damage to property and loitering and prowling, fire officials said.

Cherokee County Jail records on Wednesday showed Bishop is being held without bond on the arson charge, as well as additional violation of probation charges, since being arrested Tuesday. He faces fees of $3,812.50 for the remaining charges, jail records showed.
