Back To School In Cherokee Co.: Here's What To Know

Patch has your back-to-school guide to lead you through the process as you prepare for the 2024-25 academic year in Cherokee County.

CHEROKEE COUNTY, GA — The first day of school is nearing for Georgia students, and as parents prepare, Patch has your back-to-school guide to usher you through the process.

So as you stuff your student's backpack with supplies, or search for those handy back-to-school deals, check out what you need to know ahead of the 2024-25 academic year in Cherokee County. (See back-to-school deals below.)

Cherokee County School District

School begins in Cherokee on Aug. 1 and is set to end on May 23, 2025 for students. Two remote learning days are scheduled for Nov. 5 and Jan. 6, 2025.

Bus routes for each Cherokee public school can be accessed via VersaTrans. School start and end times are available online.

Parent Resources

Officials shared supply lists for all schools here. They are also posted on the school's website, school officials said.

Laptops are available for purchase through the district's Office of Technology. Windows and Chromebook devices are available, school officials said. See more information here.

If a parent wants their student to be considered for school reassignment, they should contact the Office of School Operations. Applications are accepted annually Feb. 1-March 1.

The CCSD uses Vector Alert to notify parents of any possible safety concerns. Parents, students and community members may also use the notification system to anonymously report safety concerns.

Menu prices vary in Cherokee. Parents may access their student's lunch account to view the balance or add money via LinqConnect.

Lunch: $2.70

Lunch for high-school students in the Grill Line is $3.75.

Back-to-School Event

The Mill on Etowah plans to bring Bluey and Bingo to Canton with Bluey's Back to School Bash, which will be held on Aug. 3 at 225 Reformation Pkwy.

The event is slated to start at 9 a.m., with a Bluey read-along. Then, guests will receive the chance to join the Bingo Bubble Dance Party from 9:30-10 a.m. A meet and greet with Bluey and Bingo will follow from 10 a.m.-noon.

Organizers said additional activities will include beach balls, coloring and viewing of "Bluey" episodes.
