Here are the top three stories in Canton-Sixes today:
- In memory of Nathan Moon, a Dean Rusk student who passed away last month due to cancer, River Ridge High School and Blood Assurance are holding a blood drive this Saturday. You must be at least 17 and weigh at least 110 pounds to donate, the drive will be held at River Ridge High School, at 400 Arnold Mill Road, from 8 a.m.-2 p.m. You can make an appointment online here, by phone at 800-962-0628 or by texting BAGIVE to 999777. Walk-ins will be accepted as well, and donors will receive a T-shirt and enjoy some Chick-fil-A. (All On Georgia)
- The "History Today: Canton Architectural Walking Tour" is coming up next weekend on May 20. The morning tour will visit some of the historic and unique buildings in Downtown Canton and will be led by Architectural Historian Bob Gamble and Executive Director Stefanie Joyner. There are two tour times to choose from, and you'll meet up at the Cherokee County History Center. You can get your tickets at the link. (History Cherokee)
- On Wednesday, May 24, History Cherokee is holding their next in the What's Up Wednesday series. The program is geared towards children 3-7 years old, and there's a different theme each month. This time, the "What's Up with the Atomedic Hospital" event examines the oddly shaped building that used to be in Woodstock's center, and the kids will learn by seeing an artifact and taking in a related story, activity or craft. The center is located at 221 E. Marietta St., and the event starts at 11 a.m. You can sign up at the link. (History Cherokee)
